"In the course of an athlete's lifetime, we should hope and pray that not only will we be remembered for our athletic achievements but more importantly for how we used our GOD given talents to give something good back to humanity".

September 11, 2001. No American will ever forget that day. I know I won't. I remember how confused, shocked, scared and heartbroken I was that day. I remember how angry I became over the next several weeks. Then it dawned on me that America had changed forever. We no longer live with the war somewhere over there. It had come to our shores. It took only a week for me to begin working on this project called ATHLETES FOR AMERICA. It is a national program I hope you will embrace, learn from, have fun with and most importantly become part of. ATHLETES FOR AMERICA was born from the ashes of the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon and Flight 93. I believe, as most Americans believe, that someday another attack on American soil will occur. That raises the question, what can we do as citizens to help prevent such an attack? What can we do to be better prepared for such a disaster? Better yet, what can we do to be better prepared for any type of emergency? The answer is simple. Get involved in your community, get better educated about homeland security and get better prepared for emergency situations. Hopefully, ATHLETES FOR AMERICA can help you achieve all of these things.

Director of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge said:

"We know that homeland security begins at home and that everyone must be involved in the process. In the end, our fight against terrorism will be won one home, one company, and one community at a time."

With that thought in mind, I ask, how would you like to become a part of America's greatest team? A team like no other. A team comprised of millions of your fellow athletes, all committed to the ULTIMATE CHALLENGE!

Every athlete, man, woman and child. Amateur to professional, youth star to superstar, all networked as one. All prepared, educated and dedicated to the same final goal. All ready, willing and able to take the leading role in their respective communities dealing with the most important challenge any athlete, any individual, any family will ever face?.. PROTECTING AMERICA!

Our Mission: To Protect, Serve, Educate and Make A Difference for all Americans.

Our Purpose: To build a national network of Athletes who are interested in helping to educate Americans about Homeland Security issues and needs and emergency preparedness, as well as motivating all Americans to get involved with their local, state and federal officials, whenever and wherever needed.

Now is the time to get off the sidelines and into the "REAL GAME". This will require each and every athlete to make the most serious and difficult commitment any athlete will ever make. No matter the sacrifice, the safety of all Americans and our FREEDOM must come first.

LET us never forget September 11, 2001.

LET us never forget the brave men and women of that day.

LET us never forget the passengers of Flight 93 who on that day became the greatest Team of all!

LET us never forget athletes like Mr. Pat Tillman who gave his life protecting America so millions more could play on.

LET us never forget that FREEDOM is the most precious gift you can bestow on any human being.

LET us never forget that the price for FREEDOM is enormous.

At this very moment in time there are individuals and organizations dedicated to the ongoing destruction of America, our liberties, our culture, our families, our way of life. Believe this; any future attacks on this country will be more devastating than 9-11-01.

But with your involvement, your leadership and support, we as a team might just prevent such an attack! Having a plan, preparing for the plan and executing the plan has always been a part of an athlete's life. Let us plan together and join as one to become the real "AMERICA'S TEAM"! A TEAM with a plan for protecting America!

Now is the time for our athletes, coaches, owners and teams as well as the entire sports arena to stand up and take watch over America. The appeal and power of the American sports system makes it the perfect resource to help motivate and educate our citizens on how they themselves can protect our FREEDOM!

This enormous network of sports enthusiasts will become the eyes, ears, voices, actions and funds that are so desperately needed to protect this great nation.

We will strive to become the largest contributor to Homeland Security by utilizing the already established American sports system to educate and motivate millions of Americans to join with local, state and federal officials to help maintain a high level of awareness regarding Homeland Security issues and needs and emergency preparedness.

LET us as a nation become pro-active rather than re-active.

LET us understand what Homeland Security means and how each of us can help.

LET us re-create a national sense of security so that all Americans can feel safe again.

LET us recognize that athletes are once again our role models and leaders and that they can show all Americans how to get involved in the process of protecting the greatest nation on earth.

This is the ULTIMATE CHALLENGE! We cannot afford to lose this fight. It is time to step up and be counted. Welcome friends to "AMERICA'S TEAM", ATHLETES FOR AMERICA!
