Former NFL Head Coach is First Coach to Endorse AFA

Nashville, TN: Eddie Khayat, the former Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and defensive lineman on their 1960 Championship team, announced today he would endorse ATHLETES FOR AMERICA. "It is with great enthusiasm that I applaud and endorse Billy McGehee and his ATHLETES FOR AMERICA program. There can be nothing but a positive return by increasing our preparedness for a time of national need. Our vast network of athletes and coaches is a perfect resource for implementing the program."

AFA Founder, Billy McGehee, is a longtime personal friend of Coach Eddie Khayat. "I have known Coach Khayat for over a decade and have had the privilege of working with him for many of those years. I know how well respected he is as a husband, father, coach and as a leader. I know how much he loves this country, our military and how thankful he is for the gifts this country's FREEDOMS have bestowed upon him and his family. I am blessed to have him as a friend and fortunate to have such a great leader helping us build AFA's network. With his support and efforts, I know ATHLETES FOR AMERICA will achieve its goal of becoming the largest contributor in America to homeland security awareness and emergency preparedness".

As part of his endorsement of AFA, Mr. Khayat will speak with coaches and players from all levels of sports about becoming part of the AFA family network and the importance of getting better educated about homeland security issues and needs and better prepared with local emergency plans and procedures. He will stress the importance of their roles as leaders in their respective communities and the enormous opportunity they have to help educate and prepare all the citizens in their communities about homeland security and emergency preparedness.

Mike Curran Becomes 1st USPTA Professional

Fort Myers, Florida; AFA Founder, Billy McGehee announced today that Mike Curran has become the 1st USPTA Teaching Professional to endorse the AFA National Emergency Preparedness Initiative.

"I have a vision for AFA. That vision is to train and network millions of Athletes into what will become the largest civilian emergency preparedness network in America. In order to accomplish this goal we must start by building a solid base, one athlete at a time, with professionals that understand the AFA mission and are commited to it's success. Mike Curran is one of the finest tennis teaching and playing professionals in the entire USPTA organization. More importantly, Mike understands as a professional instructor that he also has an obligation to prepare himself and his staff to handle emergency situations. I am very proud to welcome him to the AFA Team and look forward to working with Mike on this very important program" said McGehee.

AFA Endorsed by Tom Gullikson, Tennis Great and Former United States Davis Cup Captain

ATHLETES FOR AMERICA Founder, Billy McGehee announced today that Tom Gullikson will endorse the AFA National Emergency Preparedness program. “I have asked Tom to help integrate our national awareness, educational and Emergency Preparedness training programs into the overall national tennis system. Our primary goal will be to introduce First Aid, CPR, and AED training as well as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training to as many teaching and playing professionals as possible. Ultimately, it would be wonderful to have every teaching and playing professional in America trained and participating in the AFA National Emergency Preparedness Network” said McGehee.

“I am honored, humbled and proud to sign on with Billy’s great team of athletes around the country to support his terrific program, ATHLETES FOR AMERICA. I will do my part in the tennis community to spread awareness, understanding and support for the mission and the goals for this program” said Gullikson.
